Metal flows – Global trade and circularity

Objectives

This project aims to show and analyse the main global flows of virgin and recycled metal materials. Using customs data, statistics and interviews, the study will describe current circuits, identify the causes of exports and imports, and estimate the share of recycled material returning to Europe.
The results will provide an understanding of the obstacles to greater circularity, propose levers for action to strengthen Europe's strategic independence in metal materials, while improving control over the associated environmental issues.
