Solutions for identifying and sorting batteries and gas cartridges in waste management channels

Objectives

The waste sector has seen a significant increase in industrial accidents and incidents in recent years. The causes of this increase are well known: the ever-increasing presence of hazardous objects such as batteries and gas cartridges in the waste stream. RECORD and its members are continuing to develop their knowledge of this issue, this time looking at ways of identifying and separating these objects from the waste stream to be treated. The aim will be to carry out a critical assessment of available and marketed solutions, as well as those currently being developed, taking into account feedback from operators who have tested these technical solutions.
