Organic waste treatment - State of the art. Thermal treatment and methanisation of organic waste

Summary

The first part of this study is devoted to assessing the supply and market for organic waste in France. The second part is devoted to a technical and economic assessment of the thermal treatment processes that can be applied to organic waste (with the exception of incineration): pyrolysis, pyrolysis-gasification and hydrothermal oxidation. The third part is devoted to another method of treating and recovering organic waste: methanisation. It deals with the implementation of methanisation and the digestion of sludge, municipal waste and agricultural waste. A chapter is devoted to environmental aspects. The final section looks at current French legislation in these areas.
