Scientific survey on two impact categories indicators : human toxicity and ecotoxicity

Summary

A previous study (RECORD 99-1004/1A "Analyse critique de la pertinence des indicateurs de catégories d'impacts sur l'environnement dans les ACV") aimed to reach a consensus on improvements to be made to one or more existing methods. This study presents an update of these data, incorporating methodological and scientific advances that enable the quantification of two impact categories in LCAs: human toxicity and ecotoxicity. This study incorporates methodological and scientific advances published up to May 2002. The critical analysis focused on original publications presenting new assessment methods, a comparison of methods and improvements made to existing methods.
