Management and reuse of excavated materials. How to foster the circular economy?

Summary

At a time when the circular economy and, in particular, the efficient use of resources are gaining momentum, it is clear that the management and recovery of excavated materials (soil, construction site surplus, etc.) need to be optimised in France. Indeed, the stakeholders believe that this source, although quantitatively very important, does not yet benefit from conditions favourable to its widespread recovery.

In response to this observation, RECORD is putting forward recommendations that have been drawn up jointly with players in the sector.  These are based on a European benchmark analysing national regulations and practices in 6 Member States, as well as on a diagnosis of the French situation, highlighting the obstacles and levers to the effective recovery of excavated materials
