In order to increase the circularity of plastic materials, it is essential that recycled plastics be reincorporated into new products more systematically than is currently the case. This approach must be accompanied by the development of methods capable of distinguishing between virgin and recycled plastics and, ultimately, quantifying the proportion of recycled material present in any plastic granulate or part. To date, the methods available for this purpose remain very limited.
The objective of this study is therefore to develop an analytical strategy enriched by the use of AI tools that is robust and relatively simple to implement, enabling the discrimination between recycled and virgin polymer content.
