Flue-gas dedusting. State of the art

Summary

The study is in two parts. The first sets out the problem of dust, beginning with a description of the context: the effects of dust on health and the environment, a review of dust emissions in France and the regulations in force for different sectors of activity. The various dust removal techniques are then described (operating principle, characteristics and limitations of cyclones, venturi scrubbers, bag filters and electrostatic precipitators), as well as the determining factors in the choice of equipment (characteristics of the dust and gas to be treated). The second part gives an in-depth presentation of the two most effective technologies (particularly for capturing fine particles, which are the most hazardous to health and the most difficult to capture): bag filters and electrostatic precipitators.
