Processes for removing microplastics from liquid effluents and domestic wastewater

Objectives

The presence of microplastics and nanoplastics has attracted increasing attention over the past decade, revealing their ubiquitous presence in aquatic and terrestrial environments. This study begins by defining these particles and examining their origins. Next, the state of the art in microplastic characterization and quantification techniques will be presented, followed by an analysis of separation and degradation methods, with a particular focus on destructive techniques. Finally, the various disposal techniques will be compared.
