Reference values for environmental indicators

Summary

The aim of this study was to gather environmental data so that they could become common reference values for RECORD members, each of whom could use them as they saw fit in accordance with the ISO 14042 standard, the important thing being to reach a consensus within the RECORD framework.
The reference values cover:
- The main elements quantified in LCAs:
o Consumption of natural resources
o Consumption of renewable energy
o Atmospheric emissions and liquid discharges
o Solid waste
o The most widely accepted indicators: primary energy and global warming potential (GWP).
 - Different geographical scales: the world, Europe (EU15), France and the USA.
 - The different sectors of activity: agriculture, industry, transport, residential and tertiary.
