Characterisation of hydrocarbon basins - Characterisation of volumes and heterogeneous masses stored

Summary

This work provides new methodological proposals for characterisation, and on-site trials of geophysical techniques have been carried out for this purpose. The draft characterisation methodology is based on 2 points: - definition of the typology of sites using five criteria applied to the source term: origin, tonnage, distribution, nature and accessibility; - description of the geophysical techniques and protocols available for this type of characterisation: electrical methods (electrical resistivity, induced polarisation, spontaneous polarisation, earthing), magnetic methods (magnetism, electromagnetism), radar, microgravimetry and seismic methods (reflection, refraction). The bibliographical data is supplemented by investigative work on a site with several acid tar lagoons, where some of the methods described have been put into practice.
