Study of rapid methods for analysing organic compounds in polluted soil

Summary

When it comes to analysing polluted soils, rapid field analysis kits offer advantages in terms of the speed with which results can be obtained and their lower cost than laboratory analyses. However, their widespread use, which could appear to be an alternative solution, raises the question of the representativeness of the results. Based on analyses of soil polluted by organic compounds ('synthetic' pollution and real cases), the study compared a number of field analytical procedures with laboratory analyses carried out according to precise standards. It appears that the two approaches serve different purposes and have different qualities, which means that they can be used to complement each other rather than replace each other.
