Recycling of photovoltaic end-of-life panels. International overview

Summary

The increasing attention being paid to the conservation of natural resources, tensions over the supply of certain strategic metals and the tightening of the regulatory framework on waste recycling have led RECORD to look into the state and future of photovoltaic panel recycling around the world, from both an organisational and a technical point of view. The study begins by laying the foundations for a sound understanding of the subject. It looks in detail at module composition, the current and future photovoltaic market, forecast waste volumes, the materials to be recycled and the potential for synergies with other recycling sectors. The report also includes an analysis of the current regulatory framework. Another part of the study presents an almost exhaustive analysis of recycling processes, the associated organisational structures and the key players. The synthesis of all this data provides a global overview of the state of the industry and the key elements of development strategy associated with their specific context.
