Bibliography of hazardous substances as from the national action called RSDE associated with "Waste treatment and disposal" activity. Origin and reduction of emissions

Summary

Conducted in partnership with the Agence de l'Eau Rhône Méditerranée Corse, this work forms part of the European objectives for improving water quality (Water Framework Directive), and aims to respond to the waste industries' challenge of achieving targets for reducing emissions of priority substances in their discharges. The report sets out what is known about the hazardous substances discharged by the waste sector. It focuses on their origin, how they are collected and analysed, and the technologies available to reduce/eliminate these substances in discharges. The knowledge gathered here is based on bibliography and expert opinion. It covers 35 organic substances, 12 families of mineral substances and 17 "new substances". The information is presented in the form of specific factsheets that can be directly used and accessed by different audiences. This document is not confidential. It is accessible to everyone via the RECORD and Water Agency websites.
