This work provided a critical review of the methods and tools for estimating and/or quantifying diffuse gas and particle emissions from waste treatment/storage centres and polluted sites. The document describes the techniques used to measure emissions at source (sampling chambers, etc.) as well as those used to measure emissions at the site scale (known as "perimeter" measurements), such as optical measurements, tracing or inverse modelling. The analysis of the various measurement methods specifies: - the measurement principle, equipment and logistics, the associated measurement strategy, the level of expertise required; - the spatial and temporal representativeness of the measurements; - the technical maturity, existing references (guides, standards, etc.) and associated uncertainties if available; - the type of sources to which each technique can be applied.
