Assessment and acceptability of environmental risks. Part 1: evaluation methods, comparative analysis, Part 2: sociological study of risk representations, bibliographical summary.

Summary

Which of the ten or so Environemental Risk Assessment methods currently available should you use? What are the distinctive features of each? These are all questions to which this study provides many answers by analysing the variability between the various existing methodologies and defining the preferred conditions for using each one. The authors then set out to propose ways of improving the ERA: uncertainty, reference values and regulatory support. A second sociological section enriches this work by studying the different representations of environmental risks through a very interesting literature review, although it highlights the lack of "qualitative" sociological surveys on the subject.
